Commence Designated as Certified Independent Dispute Resolution Entity
Commence joins a group of certified organizations authorized to resolve payment disputes related to out-of-network medical services.
Livanta, now doing business as Commence, is pleased to share that we have been designated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Labor, and the Department of the Treasury as a certified Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) entity under the No Suprises Act (NSA).
The NSA established federal safeguards against surprise medical bills that arise when consumers inadvertently receive care from out-of-network hospitals, doctors, or other providers they did not choose.
We recognize the importance of balanced decision-making for all parties involved—health plans, providers, and patients alike—and are honored to support the implementation of the No Surprises Act.
“Commence is committed to delivering fair, impartial, and efficient dispute resolution services,” said Pat Feliciano, Chief Executive Officer at Commence. “We recognize the importance of balanced decision-making for all parties involved—health plans, providers, and patients alike—and are honored to support the implementation of the No Surprises Act.”
As a certified IDR entity, Commence will perform payment dispute resolution between providers or facilities and health plans for certain out-of-network services received by health plan enrollees.
With decades of experience supporting federal health programs—including recovering over $165 million in improper payments for CMS—Commence brings proven scale, structure, and clinical expertise to complex challenges. As a certified IDR entity, we apply that same precision to resolving payment disputes—supporting timely, impartial outcomes that strengthen trust across the healthcare system.
